Bio (Laura’s Version)

The youngest of five, Laura grew up in the Chicago suburbs with piles of Judy Blume books and walls covered in Seventeen magazine cutouts. Inspired by Harriet the Spy, she kept notebooks with the word “PRIVATE” written on the cover, and inside, she wrote melodramatic stories about snarky kids who [Mean Girls voice] just had a lot of feelings.

She studied journalism at the University of San Diego, where she pretended she lived inside Saved by the Bell beach club episodes. After graduation, she returned to Chicago to earn her Master’s in Writing and Publishing from DePaul University. By day she worked in marketing for author and speaker tours, and by night she wrote short stories only slightly less exaggerated than her teenage masterpieces.

Following grad school, she moved to San Francisco and covered books, TV, movies, and celebrity culture for POPSUGAR. Along with some fun, pinch-me interview opportunities, she enjoyed on-camera work and live event moderation.

Now Laura’s returned to her first love, fiction, writing melodramatic stories about snarky adults who just have a lot of feelings.
